motoblue.jpgIf you like color and love to draw, but don't have a lot of drawing talent, this free little Web program is for you. As a matter of fact, it is fun for everyone. MotoColors turns your computer screen into an interactive canvas.

Moto Colors is a site that was created by Motorola to highlight the colors of there phones, but there is no blatant advertising. You simply see some Motorola colored phones on the bottom of the screen and there is a brief initial screen with colors and some Motorola phones. After the initial screen, you will hear music and see a colored dot. Your cursor will turn into an arrow. Just press the left mouse button and move the arrow around the screen. Press it quickly to make a small design. Press, hold, and move to produce larger areas of design.

This creates an interest mix of designs on the screen. If you stop for a moment, a small box labeled CREATE will appear that will allow you to Change colors, Start all over, or Save & Share. Each color has its own designs built-in.  Although you don't have much control over what will appear next, you can create some very interesting designs just by choosing the colors and moving the cursor. You control the drawing by It is amazingly creative, as well as addictive.

Once you have created a design you would like to save, you click on Save & Share , then click on Save & Share again to compress the image. Be patient as this can take several minutes. Once the file is compressed you will be presented with three options: Send to a Friend, Desktop Pack, and Mobile Wallpaper. To make the design your desktop wallpaper, click on Desktop Pack. Then follow the instructions to download and install the software that will make the design your wallpaper. You can use this wallpaper on both Windows and Mac computers. You can use it for your desktop wallpaper and/or screensaver. It's gratifying to see something on the screen that you yourself have created. Of course, being from Motorola, you can also follow the instructions to make it your cell phone wallpaper, as well. To do that the website will generate your design in a jpeg format, which can be used for any purpose you like. I used the jpeg to create the picture at the top of this article.

This little program has a few unexpected extras. They are listed in the Help menu. Look at the screen carefully and you will see the word Help on the lower left side. Click on Help to get a set of mini-instructions and information on what the program can do. You will notice that if you have a microphone on your computer you can just blow into the microphone to draw on the screen. The kids and grandkids are sure to love that.

Hats off to Motorola for an interesting new advertising concept. You will remember that Motorola name, the phones, and the colors, yet there is no in-your-face aggravating advertising. Be sure to check out Moto Colors.
