Java

A programming language that was developed by Sun Microsystems to run easily on different types of computer systems.

A common programming language designed to run on web pages. JavaScript is a scripting language in which each step is handled sequentially rather that having the entire program compiled and converted into machine language before the task can begin. Although JavaScript, like Java, is trademarked by Sun Microsystems. The two languages are quite different.
