Image Stabilization

The process of reducing the effect of the inadvertent movement of the camera. This is done by the use of an image stabilization device built into some digital cameras. Image stabilization can minimize the effect that a photographer’s shaky hand has on the photograph. It can also minimize the camera shake that would otherwise be seen in photos taken at slow shutter speeds or with telephoto lenses. Image stabilization can also be found in telescope and binoculars.
