Wireless mice and keyboards offer you the ability to move
around without being tethered by wires. Most work by radio frequency. You plug
the transmitter into the USB port on your computer, add batteries in the
keyboard and the mouse and the new devices will be active.
Remember that the batteries will eventually wear out. If you
have been using the wireless keyboard and mouse for a few months, and they
start to act erratic, the first thing to do is to change the batteries.

Want to get to an often visited Web
page without having to start your browser and type in the Web address? It is
easy. Just right-click on any blank area of the computer desktop. Choose New, then choose Shortcut. Type the URL of the website you want. For instance if you
want a shortcut to the Compu-KISS web site you would type in: www.compukiss.com.
Click Next. Type in the name of the
website. Click Finish. You will now
see a shortcut to that website on your desktop.
As
always in the complex computer world, there is also another way to do this. You
may find it easier to mark the website as a Favorite in Internet Explorer or a
Bookmark in Firefox. Then click on Favorites in IE 6, Bookmark in Firefox or
click on the Star icon in IE 7. Once you have your list of favorites or
bookmarks open, you can simply drag the name of the web page to your desktop.
This method requires that you see the web browser and part of the desktop at
the same time, so you may have to adjust the size of the browser window to show
part of the desktop. You can do that by clicking on the middle icon in the
upper right hand corner of the web browser (the icon to the left of the X). If
you still don't see the desktop, position your mouse on the side or bottom edge
of the browser window. The cursor will turn into a double arrow. When you see
that arrow, press the left mouse button and hold it down while you drag the
window to make it smaller and see the desktop beneath it.

When you get an error message, it is best to document it. To do so, you can use
the Windows clipboard. Make sure that the dialog box with the error message is selected by clicking on
the title bar. Then press CTRL+C which will copy the text in the box to the Windows clipboard. Then start your word processor, Notepad or
WordPad or open a new email message. Then simply press CTRL+V to paste the text into
the document or email.

Double-click the My
Computer icon or click Start,
then My Computer. Click on the icon
marked Local Disk (C:) On the left side you will see an area called Details
which will show you the total disk space and the free disk space. If you do not
see these details, click on the arrows next to the word Details to show the
information.
Remember you need at least 10% of the total disk space free
for your computer to operate efficiently.
