Copy Text from an Error Message Print E-mail

When you get an error message, it is best to document it. To do so, you can use the Windows clipboard. Make sure that the dialog box with the error message is selected by clicking on the title bar. Then press CTRL+C which will copy the text in the box to the Windows clipboard. Then start your word processor, Notepad or WordPad or open a new email message. Then simply press CTRL+V to paste the text into the document or email.




 
Check the Amount of Hard Disk Space Print E-mail

Double-click the My Computer icon or click Start, then My Computer. Click on the icon marked Local Disk (C:) On the left side you will see an area called Details which will show you the total disk space and the free disk space. If you do not see these details, click on the arrows next to the word Details to show the information.

Remember you need at least 10% of the total disk space free for your computer to operate efficiently.

Get to the Top or Bottom Quickly Print E-mail

Want to get to the beginning or the end of a document or Web page without using those aggravating scroll bars? Just hold down the CTRL key and press the key marked "Home" and you will be taken to the top of the page. Hold down the CTRL key and press the key marked "End" and you will be taken to the bottom.



 
Save Pictures Quickly Print E-mail

To save a picture from a Web page or document, just right-click the image and select "Save Picture (Image) As..." Choose a place to save the picture and a name and it will be available on your hard drive whenever you need it.   You can also turn any picture into your desktop wallpaper by choosing "Set as (desktop) background" after you right-click on the picture.



 
Adding Programs to the Start Menu Print E-mail

Sometimes is it convenient to add a program that you use often to your Start Menu. Then you can simply press the Windows key on your keyboard to bring up the Start Menu and choose you program from the short Start Menu list.

You can quickly add programs to the Start menu by dragging them to the Start button and dropping them on the button itself. To remove items from the Start Menu, right-click on the item you want to remove and choose "Remove from This List".
