Some computer manufacturers are actually putting fewer USB ports to their computers. This is especially true of the popular all-in one computers. Yet we are adding more and more USB devices like keyboards, mice, backup drives, and wireless devices that need a USB port.

Anker made it happen. Their Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 hub is both attractive and useful. This small 3.3” × 1.8” × 1.1” device with a non-skid bottom sits firmly on the desktop. With its slanted front and circular sides, it is quite good looking. The angled front sports 4 SuperSpeed USB ports and a small green LED power status indicator. You can see exactly what you have plugged in. It comes in both black and white.

There is no driver or power required. Just plug it into a working USB port and it works perfectly. The 22” cable allows you to keep it where you need it or out-of-sight, if you prefer. Of course, it is backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1.

Only one caveat. It doesn’t have enough power to charge some high power-consumption devices like some external hard drives. However, that said, I have a Clickfree 1 TB portable hard drive connected to mine and it syncs and works perfectly.

As I write this: $14.99 at Amazon
