Red Tea — A Treatment for Rosacea
Posted by Sandy Berger on March 25th, 2009
I have been fighting rosacea for most of my life. Luckily I don’t have the red, bulbous nose that made my grandfather look like W.C. Fields, but I do get large acne-looking bumps. I’ve tried every cream and medication known to man. And now I’ve found something that actually helps.
You may be surprised to know that it is not a medicine, but rather a food. It’s red tea, also known as rooibos tea. I discovered it in a tea store called Teavana in Chicago. When the salesperson told me it had more antioxidants than green tea and was especiall good for the skin and for allergies, I knew I had to try it.
After two weeks of drinking red tea, I noticed that my rosacea was cleared up. It is not a miracle cure. I still have an occasional breakout, but drinking red tea has made a definite difference in my skin. and has really kept my rosacea at bay.
I have now found that I can order from Teavana Online. So I wanted to share this with any of you who have rosacea as well as those of you who would like to improve their skin.

I have rosacea and I hate it. I have never heard of red tea. Do you make it just like regular tea? Does it taste the same?

Sandy…I have a Rosasea problem and would like to try the Same Tea you are using. But, when I went to Teavana Web Site and clicked on Red Tea…there were at least 2 dozen teas that showed up. Can you give me a more specific name to order?

Red tea is just like regular tea. You make it the same way and it tastes the same.
Marjorie,
Yes, Tevana has 20 different flavors of red tea. That’s why I love it. All of these have the same properties. So you can try any one of them to see if it helps you. Just pick the flavor that sounds good to you. Or try a few so you can alternate.

Hi, recently I read that book titled Japanese women don’t get old or fat. I started doing some research and noticed there isn’t much information on it. I only found that one site….thanks for any help.

Sandy, I am not a tea drinker but would be willing to try it to improve my rosacea. How many cups a day do you consume? Have you experimented with using it topically? Thank you.

Ellen,
I drink about five cups a day. It is funny that you mention applying it topically because I just saw some face cream in Sephora that had red tea as one of the main ingredients. Maybe I’ll try it. Or if you try it let me know.
I also find that my rosacea is under better control when I can keep my mind from stressing out too much. It’s not always easy, but I try.
