CES Day 3: Gadgets & Gizmos
Posted by Sandy Berger on January 11th, 2009
There are always a lot of new gadgets to see at the Consumer Electronic Show. This year, the most popular product seems to be the netbook. Just about every manufacturer has jumped on board to create their own version of these small notebook computers. The speed at which some of these things take off always amazes me. Several manufacturers already had specialized netbook cases in bright colors and a wealth of finishes.
On the show floor, televisions got slimmer with Panasonic featuring a flat panel TV that was only 1/3″ thick. I doubt that the average consumer will be willing to pay the premium to get a TV that thin, but they were amazing to see. Equally amazing were the OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays. While most were not yet in production, they all had amazing clarity and the flexibility of these screens offer a wealth of new applications where they will be able to be used.
