Jenny, I am thrilled to see your comment and your offer to help. It certainly improves my impressions of your company.

Happily, the transition of the telephone number took place on the date that I was given. I was told to unplug the phones from the wall on that date and to turn the cell phone that the home telephone number was being ported to off and then back on again. Although AT&T said that the transition might still take 24 hours after that, it did not take any additional time. When I turned the cell phone back on it was able to receive and make calls from my "old" home number.
