Dell Idea Storm

Posted by Sandy Berger on May 14th, 2007

I recently had a customer who returned a Dell computer because it didn’t come with a users manual. After over an hour on the phone with Dell he was told that he could download and print the manual. He is now in search of another computer — one that comes with a manual. I don’t know if he will be successful. I haven’t seen any computers with manuals lately. They have all cut them out to save costs.

This experience reminded me of the good old days when I would buy a new computer or program and happily spend the next few evenings perusing the hefty book that came with the product. I think those days are gone… and printing a manual just isn’t the same.

I’m going to advise my customer to put his two-cents in at the Dell Idea Storm Website. This is the place that you can tell Dell what you want to see in their computers. In fact, this is the site that is credited with Dell’s decision to bring back Windows XP computers for home users and to offer their computer with Linux. I just wish that Dell would promote this website on their home page because I don’t think a lot of ordinary customers know about it.

    I have the inspiron E1505
when I ordered it I was told the truelife screen was the best screen that dell put out.. So I ordered it…
its like looking in a mirror.. you can see the reflection of the room behind you and yourself..
you have to squint to see the work..

and forget about working outside, or in your car.. the glare is so bad you get a head ache trying to see the screen..
I think Dell should have to replace this screens, I have a friend who has the matted screen and he can use his anywhere…

Then I found out dell had changed the express card slot.. so we cant share the card…
