Dell Forcing Google Desktop Down Your Throat
Posted by Sandy Berger on May 10th, 2007
Just installed 4 new Dell desktops. I really like Dell’s equipment, but I hope that they will rethink their position with respect to the Google Desktop.
When you set up a new Dell, it automatically installs the Google Desktop. You may remember that when this program came out there was a lot of suspicion that it did a little too much to track users. Because of this, I did not want to install the Google Desktop.
Unfortunately, there was no button to click to choose “no” when the installation begins. Your only choice is to say “okay”. If at the next screen if you do not agree to Google’s terms, the program will uninstall.
Why would I want to install and uninstall a program that I din’t want in the first place? Hey, DELL, give the user’s a way to stop the install before it begins!!

I enjoy reading our newsletters as they come out. However, I am a minority. I am a Mac user.
Can you modify your columns on pc information to include a paragraph or two with the same info. as it applies to the Mac OS X operating system?
I know I would appreciate your effort, and I’m sure others will also.

Ray,
I will be glad to add as much Mac info as I can. Although I generally write about PCs, I also have a Mac and love it!
You will be glad to know that we just started a Mac area on the Compu-KISS message boards. Check it out at:

I encourage you to post a comment or question. I know you Mac users are out there. I’d love to get you all a little more involved!
