CES — Television is King

Posted by Sandy Berger on January 11th, 2007

Day 3 at CES — and I walked the floor looking for new technologies. I found the world’s largest LCD TV, the Sharp 108″ and a great Samsung 102″ Plasma. The most exciting, however, was the Sony OLED prototype television. It was even worth fighting a throng of people to see it!

This Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) screen had a million-to one contrast and offered the best and brightest television I’ve ever seen. If you think high definition television is great, wait till you see it on an OLED screen.

Also saw the new LG DVD player that can read both Blue Ray and Hi-def DVD’s. This may spell the end to the DVD format wars, but at $1,200, the average consumer won’t be buying many.

If you own a cell phone or an iPod, you will be faced with about a million new accessories this year. From bluetooth headphones to leather iPodcovers and cute cell phone covers, there will certainly be something for everyone. I even got a bracelet that is supposed to light up when my cell phone rings. The jury is still out on that one.
