CES, Day 1

Posted by Sandy Berger on January 8th, 2007

Two themes are quickly emerging here at the Consumer Electronics Show. It’s all about bringing digital technology into the home and to devices that we can use on the go.

The Bill Gates keynote address was boring. Although i already like the new Vista operating system, I am tired of hearing about it. His announcement about the wireless, voice-activated technology that will be used in Ford cars was interesting. It will put many hands back on the steering wheel, but may take the focus away from the road, which will probably prove to be equally detrimental to safety on the road.

Today we will start to peruse the floor. With almost 3,000 exhibitors, it will take days to see everything. But tomorrow, I’ll start to tell you about some of the exciting new products.
