My Sony Vaio Too HOT to handle
Posted by Sandy Berger on October 18th, 2006
The battery recall for laptop computers has been going on since mid-August when Dell recalled 4.2 million batteries. Since then six other companies have joined the recall. All of the batteries were produced by Sony. So, for several months, I have been waiting for my Sony Vaio battery to be recalled. Now Sony has finally announced the recall of Vaio batteries in China and Japan. They say they plan to widen the recall to include the US but have not initiated that reall yet. So I sit here with a laptop that could burst into flames at any minute. Of course I could remove the battery, but then I lose half of the computer’s usuability. Sony obviously knew about this month ago. I am sure that they have been very busy with the recalls from other manufacturers, but they should be more responsive to the US purchasers of their own Sony products. I am sorely disappointed in Sony and can only hope they issue the recall before my Viao gets too HOT to handle.
