Some of the anti-spyware programs touted on the Web actually
contain spyware, so it is important that when you choose an anti-spyware
product you pick one that comes from a reputable source. That's the first
reason I decided to try Spyware Doctor. It is produced by PC Tools (Click Here), a company
with a long and spotless reputation.
The second thing that I liked about Spyware Doctor is that
it not only eliminates spyware, but it has a detection engine that keeps
spyware from attacking your computer. So what you get with Spyware Doctor is an
application that can scan for spyware, eliminate it, and keep it from
returning.
Unlike some other anti-spyware products, Spyware Doctor has
a graphic interface that is easy to use. The default configuration gives
adequate protection, so average users can install it and be comfortable with
its protection without having to do anything . Power users will find that they
can tweak the settings if they so desire.
The trial version of Spyware Doctor is free. There is,
however, a big catch. While the trial version will find the spyware on your
system, it will not remove it. In order to do that, you will have to buy the
full version. This is a come on that I don't fully approve of, but if you
really don't want to pay, there are ways around it. First you can use other
free software to remove any spyware that you have, then install the free
version of Spyware Doctor which will then help you keep future spyware at bay.
If you install the free version on a new system that does not have any spyware on
it, it will be good for future protection.
If you don't mind paying a few dollars, the $29.95 full
version of Spyware Doctor is worth the price. It will scan and remove spyware
and keep it from coming back. Spyware Doctor offers protection against any different
types of spyware including,
adware, trojans, keyloggers, spybots, tracking threats, and rootkits.
Spyware Doctor provides several levels of scanning, and
includes the ability to do advanced scheduling of scans. Spyware Doctor gives
you a chance to create a restore point before you install the program. This is
always a good idea, in case something goes wrong.
I tested Spyware Doctor on several different computers with
good results each time. I was also surprised to find that the spyware protector
ran in the background without a noticeable hit in the computing speed. I have
read some reviews which said that this program slowed their computer to a
crawl, but each of the computers I tested, including Vista and XP computers, ran
smoothly after installation. PC Tools says that Spyware Doctor 5.1 has been
optimized to reduce system load, and that was certainly apparent in my testing.
So don't be swayed against this program because of reviews of Spyware Doctor
5.0, which might have had some problems.
Spyware Doctor works with almost all the Windows based
Operating System including Vista. With 30 day 100% money back guarantee, it's
definitely worth a try.
