DLO HomeDock Music Remote Print E-mail

dlohomeodckmusicremote.gif The DLO HomeDock Music Remote offers an easy way to attach your iPod to your stereo system, powered speakers, or audio device so you can listen to your digital music throughout your home. The remote control is the highlight of the system, with it's clear and crisp OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen you can control your playlists and iPod music from up to 150 feet away from the Home Dock.

I liked two things about this system that I often find lacking in other devices. First, it was easy to set up and second the directions were clear and comprehensive.

For the set up, just plug the HomeDock into the wall and then plug it into the Line In on your stereo system or the AUX-in jack on your powered speaker system or other audio device. I tried it with my Bose Wave Radio and my Sharper Image Sound Soother. Both worked seamlessly with the included cables.

The HomeDock  also charges you iPod when it is in the dock. It comes with a USB cable so you can also use it as a docking station when you connect your iPod to your PC.

Once your iPod is in the dock, you have to access the settings menu to download the information from the iPod to the Home Dock remote. Once that is done, you have complete control of the iPod from the HomeDock remote. You can play, pause, and choose songs by artist or title, just as you can from your iPod. The Jukebox setting lets you create Playlists on the fly, so you can play the music you want without having to attach your iPod to the computer to create a playlist. You can see the currently playing song clearly on the remote at any time.

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) has been making iPod cases since 2001. They know how iPods work and they put a lot of thought into their design and workability. It show in this product. The dock works with almost any iPod. It is small and unobtrusive, and the black finish looks good with most stereo systems.

This DLO product is mainly for browsing music. If you have a video iPod, you can connect it to the HomeDock Music your TV as well as your stereo by using any iPod AV Cable. However, you might be better off to purchase the Digital Lifestyle Outfitters HomeDock Deluxe for iPod or the HomeDock HD, both of which are made to work with your television..

The HomeDock Music Remote is great for whole house stereo systems or open homes where you can hear your stereo in more than one room. It is also a convenient way to listen to your iPod music in any room of the house.
