ABC chose to utilize Quartet Technology Inc.’s innovative Simplicity Series Environmental Control Unit (ECU) to install in their makeover. The ECU is a device that has can assist individuals with severe physical limitation to gain control over their daily activities. By a voice command or activating a switch, the ECU device allows its user to control the telephone, electric bed, thermostat, doors, lights, TV, computer, etc. from their bed or wheelchair.

"We are thrilled Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has partnered with Quartet Technology to improve Robert Gil's lifestyle and are confident our ECU device will play an integral part in helping to restore Robert's independence," says President/CEO Michael Rourke of Quartet Technology. "This exposure is also the perfect opportunity for people with physical disabilities, their loved ones, and industry professionals to learn more about how assistive technology can positively impact someone's life."
