brainhatIt can be really aggravating when you can’t remember the name and/or location of a file that you recently used. Don’t worry, this is one time that a simple tool in your program can come to your aid.

Most programs keep track of your recently-used files. Each program might be slightly different, but the list of recently-used files is usually easy to find. For instance, in Microsoft Word, just click on File and choose Recent.  A list of the files you worked with in the last few days will appear. You can choose any file to open it.

Similar lists of recent files can be found in other Microsoft programs like Excel and Publisher. They are also available in many other programs like Adobe Photoshop.
