I am happy to announce the opening of the Compu-KISS Message Boards. You can join these boards with confidence. We ask for your e-mail address so that you can be notified when someone responds to one of your posts. We will not sell your e-mail address to anyone. So you will not be put on any spam lists.
You do not have to join or login to post a comment or question, however I encourage you to click on Join to sign up, and to click on Login and enter your user name and password before you create a posting. This will allow others to recognize you. It will help us create a sense of community, and it will also allow the message board software to send you an e-mail notification when someone answers your post.
We will have several discussions where you can post questions, answers, and comments.
Computer Help
This is the place where all computer users can get free and accurate computer information. We have a staff of experts who will answer both PC and Mac questions and hope that you will both ask and answer questions based on your level of expertise.
Computer Product Reviews
Your comments are also welcome in the Product Review area where you can give your opinions about computer products, ask questions, and let us know what you would like reviewed. If you have questions on a specific product that we cannot answer, we will contact the company and try to get them to log on and answer your questions.
Shopping Online
Here your questions and comments about shopping are welcome. Share your shopping experiences and let us all know which shopping sites you like and which you don’t.
General Discussion
Just about anything goes in this area. Comment on Sandy’s articles, news, events, or other things on your mind.
Joining
You are asked to click on Join and fill out a simple form. The only necessary information is the user name you would like to use and your e-mail address. Your e-mail address is necessary so that you can subscribe to a topic.
Forgotten User Name & Password
If you forget your user name and/or password, we can help you. Click on Login from the main screen of the Message Boards. Then click on the link "Forgot your login information?". You will be taken to a screen where you can enter and submit your e-mail address. We will then e-mail you your login and password information.
More on Passwords
After you click on Login you are taken to a screen where you fill in your user name and password. The first time you do this you can cut and paste your password into the Password box, or you can copy it exactly as it appeared in your confirmation e-mail. When you are at this Login screen you will see a box next to the words Remember my login. If you click the box, a checkmark will appear in the box and your computer will remember your username and password for you.
You can also change the password to something easier to remember. After you login just click on the Profile button at the top right. Then highlight the bullets that appear in the Password box, and type in your new password. Do the same in the Verification box. Then scroll to the bottom of that page and click Update Profile.
Posting a Comment or Question
Log in first. Then from the main page of the Message Boards, click on the Forum Category where you would like to post your comments. If you want to reply to a message that has already been posted, just click on the letter icon next to the topic you are interested in. Then scroll down to the message you want to reply to, click on Reply. Type in your comments and click on Reply to Topic.
To ask a new question or post a comment on a new topic. After you have logged in, click on the category where you want your posting to appear. Then click on the New Topic button at the top right. Fill in a meaningful message title and the message text, then click on Post Message.
When you post a message or ask a question, simply click your mouse in the box next to the Subscribe to this topic and whenever someone replies to your posting you will be notified by e-mail. You can also subscribe to other topics that you are interested in, even if you don’t post anything. Just click on the icon that looks like a letter coming out of a folder. If you hold your mouse over the icon it will say Subscribe to this thread. When you subscribe to a thread, it means that whenever someone posts an additional comment on that topic you will be notified by e-mail.
Keep it Clean
You are asked to keep your comments clean and to always be polite. After each posting, there is a link to Report this to a Moderator. If you even see anything offensive on the Compu-KISS message boards, just click this link and we will remove the offensive posting.
Getting Message Board Help
The menu at the top right of the discussion board screen has a button labeled Help. Just click it to get more information on how the boards work and what the various icons mean. If you still can’t figure something out, feel free to post a question in the Computer Help area and someone will answer your specific question.
