Internet Information Doubles

by Sandy Berger...

Are you amazed by the amount of information that travels over the Internet everyday? Well stick around for a few years and you are sure to be completely astonished. IDC, a leading provider of technology analysis, reports that the amount of information transmitted globally over the Internet will continue to double each year for the next five years.

IDC reports that the growth in broadband Internet access will continue and by 2007 broadband will be the largest and fastest-growing sector of Internet traffic. While business users have traditionally fueled the Internet, by 2007 it is expected that 60 percent of all Internet users will be consumers and 40 percent will be business users.

IDC suggests that this strong growth in Internet traffic will force telecommunication companies to find even faster and more efficient communication technologies to quench consumers thirst for high speed Internet access.

If you currently have cable, satellite or DSL Internet access, you can consider yourself an early-adapter. In a few years, however, you will just be an average Internet user.
