The Next Generation of Hearing Aids

More than 28 million Americans suffer from hearing loss - and in 25 years, the ailment is expected to affect more than 50 million Americans. But the latest in hearing aids, featuring wireless digital technology, gives the hearing impaired their most sophisticated hearing device yet - allowing wearers to hear things clearly even in the most difficult hearing environments.

The Acuris hearing aid is the first and only one of its kind to use devices for each ear that communicate wirelessly with each other. Acuris features a hearing aid for both the left and right ear that work together to automatically sense and adjust incoming sounds. The device also features digital noise suppression and speech enhancement for the clearest sound yet.

About 80 percent of Americans with hearing loss wear two hearing aids. The Acuris hearing aid is easier to control manually for these users because both hearing aids can be adjusted from just one ear - instead of having to adjust each hearing aid independently.

Experts say the new device allows wearers to process speech and other sounds much better - even in noisy environments.
