You may not be going back to school this fall, but you may want to check out the back to school offers for computers. This year Dell and Hewlett-Packard are vying for the top spot in PC sales and the resulting competition is benefiting consumers across the board. Although these computer sales are being labeled “Back to School”, they started appearing in mid-July and seem to be geared toward many different types of computer users. Hewlett-Packard announced several value-priced HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario desktop PC’s starting as low as $349 without a monitor.
HP also introduced a special Compaq Presario bundle that includes a monitor and an inkjet printer for $497. Dell debuted an entry-level Dimension desktop bundle that includes a flat-panel monitor for $699. Unfortunately, both of these prices are after rebates so you must shell out more money upon purchase and deal with the hassle of a rebate.
Although these back to school offers are good values, they are actually more suitable for entry-level computer users than for kids who like to play games that require more processing and video power than these machines provide. If you are looking for a new computer, check out these inexpensive user-friendly models. Before purchasing however, be sure to investigate the shipping charges that can add to the cost. These value-priced computers are available from the Dell and Hewlett-Packard Web sites.
