Cyber criminals are increasingly launching more sophisticated and targeted attacks.
According to Symantec's semiannual Internet Security Threat Report, consumers are more at risk for Internet threats than ever before.
Art Wong, vice president of Symantec Security Response says, “Symantec reported malicious code threats that could reveal confidential information has reached 80 percent of the top 50 samples this period. Symantec also found more than 1,896 new vulnerabilities, the largest total recorded since 1998.”
Wong recommends that consumers and small businesses use an Internet security solution that combines antivirus, firewall, intrusion detection, and vulnerability management.
To help consumers better comprehend the threats they can encounter online, Symantec is introducing the Symantec Internet Threat Meter. Like a surf or weather report, consumers can turn to the meter for daily and accurate information on the risks they may encounter online.
