PDF files have become the standard for many documents, including user manuals and forms. The free Adobe Reader program is a good way to be able to open and look at PDF files, but it is bloated and sometimes refuses to work properly. This free program is a small and speedy substitute for the Adobe Reader, but it doesn't sacrifice any functionality. In fact, it allows you to do some things that you can't do with Adobe Reader. Keep this one on your "must have" list.

With prices of printers plummeting, it is not a bad idea to purchase an inexpensive black-and-white laser printer to save money on ink for that color ink jet printer. Although a laser printer is much more economical, there is a way to get that toner cartridge to last just a little longer.
