The New York Post reports that the New York Times will stop charging readers for the online content.  For the past two years, the Times has charged Web-only subscribers $7.95 a month or $49.95 a year for access to Op-Ed columnists, archives, and other content, which they called Times Select.

Lack of Times Select subscribers seems to be at the crux of this decision. Hurray!!  We just proved that if readers don't pay for web content, it will be offered for free.
