Cell Phone Charging on the Go Print E-mail

cellphoneinhand.jpgMost cell phones come with chargers that plug into the wall, but there are also chargers available for all makes and models that plug into your car's power socket, which is loving referred to as the cigarette lighter.

If your cell phone didn't come with a car adapter, this should be one of the first accessories that you purchase. Even if you are careful to keep your phone charged up, Murphy's law applies here. Your cell phone will always run out of power when you are on the road.

While the store where you purchased your cell phone will have car adapters available, they can also be found at general stores. Just be sure that you purchase the proper charger for you cell phone. The larger end of the connector plugs into the cigarette lighter and the smaller end attaches to your phone's power port. The power port size and shape vary with different cell phone manufactures and even with different models for the same manufacturer. Take the power adapter that came with your phone with you and make sure you purchase a car adapter with the same type of connector that will fit your phone.

Be careful to buy a name brand adapter. Very cheap adapters may not have an over-voltage cut-off which can be harmful to your cell phone.
