E-mail addresses
«

Did a quick search here, but didn't find what i need :
I subscribe to several newsletters & use one basic address. And what about sites I subscribe to only temporarily? I need several addresses to use. Do i have to register with Google or Yahoo, even tho I don't want all the extra toolbars & stuff from those sites? I have a Google toolbar now that I don't want, but can't get rid of.
Advice, please ? Thank you !

I use 8 differnt email addresses from Yahoo, covering 4 different domain names (yahoo Mail, Ymail, Rocketmail and my DSL provider is AT&T but they also use Yahoo for email). I never have had the Yahoo Toolbar, never accept it from being snuck aboard by different programs that try to include the Yahoo Toolbar as part of their installation or version updating process even though they are not a Yahoo company. You can uninstall toolbars via Control Panel and Add/Remove..... Some folks confuse the search window to the right of the address bar as being part of a Google Toolbar. It's not, it is a basic web search window and the default search engine could be Google, yahoo, Bing, Amazon, Ask.... The Google Toolbar does have a nice feature of Popup blocker as well as spell checker included, but one can turn off the Toolbar at any time by just unticking it in the Menu bar by clicking View>>Toolbars>>and untick the toolbars you don't want showing....
Yes, you do have to sign up for each free email account no matter which provider you use - Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and so forth - but again, you can select the components that might be included with the email program..... I use different ones for different sites, such as program warranty registrations on one, newsletters on others, and so forth..... that way, if I start getting spam with that particular email address then I know that newsletter sold or gave out my email address to the spammer and I will drop the email address as well as that newsletter which violated my privacy.....
It is a pain, and we need to be very attentive to installation steps from many different programs, as they try to sneak in some unwanted item like the Ask.com toolbar, or the yahoo toolbar if we leave the default check mark in the box as they ask us if we want that item included.... some folks tend to just click Install button and don't pay attention, and then they get stuck with having to uninstall or block a lot of unwanted items that got installed on the computer with the program....
