A friend has just been diagnosed with Mesothelioma. I remember that someone on these boards mentioned that they were fighting that disease. Any information that any of you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Sandy ... Pete (Wilbo) has been assisting his wife with her battle against Mesothelioma. I know it is a difficult battle and there have been a plethora of lawsuits filed on behalf of many victims (individually and in class action suits) in an effort to gain them medical assistance and care in this difficult struggle with the tiny asbestos particles that clog the lungs and causes so much destruction and discomfort...

My thoughts and prayers go out to all facing the battle, innocently afflicted while working in the asbestos industry with a product that had been approved without a full study of its affect on the lungs. I recall the great expense my church incurred when we were carpeting some rooms and recarpeting others. We had to have special Haz-Mat companies remove the old asbestos tile flooring that had been installed in the late 50's and early 60's - stuff that can no longer just be ripped up and disposed of... What a chore!!

I just happened upon this post this evening the last couple of years I just almost gave up using my computer.
Yes my wife was diagnoticed with this dreaded cancer, I wish that I could tell you something positive as for as I know there is no known treatment she did agree to experimental treatment until she felt she could not stand the effects any longer. Will never know weather they prolong her life or not but were they were entirely her decision to make, I wonted to ask her to stop long before she did.
She fell and broke her arm and spent three months in rehab center, this was the hardest three months of my life I spent twelve to fourteen hours there with ever day came home to shower and rest but slept only a couple of hours.
I was able to bring her home but Peggy lost her battle March 25,2009 this is the first time I have attempted to write anything.

Pete

Pete ... So sorry to hear of the outcome for Peggy; sounds like she fought a valiant battle against quite a formidable foe. She was very blessed to have had the good fortune to have been able to share her life with you. I'm sure you brought her such comfort and courage and made her battle so much more endurable than it would have been without your caring presence. May you find great comfort and peace in the joy of remembrance of those wonderful times of your lives that you were able to share together and make beautiful memories.

You most certainly have been missed, buddy. We all look forward to your excellent help as you gain strength for we know being a care taker is most certainly one of the most stressful and demanding jobs we can undertake. Being a care taker for a close loved one seems so unrewarding and extra demanding as one goes through it since we wish for no pain or discomfort for our loved one. But, upon reflection later I think most will have found that special joy that comes from knowing our loved one got the most caring and loving attention that they could possibly get because they got to experience not only care but endearing love in all efforts to help them.

Hoping to see your further posts and wonderful insight....
God's peace be with you.... Your friend, Al
