IE7 vs IE6
«

I am using IE7, but I may have a problem and am thinking of reverting to IE6. When may wife accessed and updated her account with Turbotax. it sits awaiting for something and does not complete. If she does it using Firefox, it completes any type of updates. Also, when she accesses Hallmark's card site to send a ecard, it hangs up, but works with Firefox. Would IE7 block access to these sites?
Thanks for any help or opinion

IE7 is just a browser, so wouldn't be blocking anything........ But the sites accessed might not be updated to accept IE7 over IE6. with FireFox there is an add-on extension called IE Tab which you can get from Mozilla (tools/add ons/look for updates)... You use the FF browser, but on a page that needs IE you click an icon and it changes the rendering engine to IE rather than Mozilla as far as the site is concerned you are using IE.... Perhaps that might work if you would prefer to use IE7 for those sites........ Sounds quite strange that they wouoldn't be updated to IE7 since it has been out for so long.... Also wondering if it might be that her cookie for those sites when she logs in was set using IE6 and perhaps cleaning cookies and typing a new login introduction cookie the next time she visits the sites might also help.......
Blocking of sites, from your end, would be done by a firewall or an anti-malware program.... I don't believe a browser would block, it might get blocked by a site is all..... At least those are my thoughts, perhaps someone has personal experience that could help........

I would not advise going back to Internet Explorer 6. It has a lot of flaws and security problems. Stick with IE7, which is much more secure. If you have trouble with a certain website, you can use Firefox, as you obviously have done. Firefox is also more secure than IE6.
On top of the security issues, Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 have a lot more features like tabbed browsing that really make surfing easier!

Two Suggestions:
1 - Delete your temporary internet files.
This is done in IE, Tools, Internet Options and under 'browsing history' click delete. Temporary files is the first item.
Tools, internet options, advanced, check mark the box, on the 10th item from the very bottom "Empty Temporary Files when browser is closed" is a setting everyone should do, and temporary files will be cleaned automatically.
2 - If the website still does not work and you trust the webside completely, add it to your 'trusted sites'. This will enable pop-ups and other programming to function. Tools, Internet options, tab security, click 'trusted sites' then 'sites', then add. (you may have to remove the check mark at the bottom).
