I bought an ipod about a month ago and all was well until this morning. I went to play some music and the song appeared on the screen but it didn't play. I know the thing is frozen because it was in the middle of scrolling the name of the song and it stayed right there. It won't even shut off. What can I do?

Joe,

I've had that happen to me. First make sure that the hold switch isn't on. This is the small switch on the top. If it is on, it will show a little orange next to it. Having the hold switch on will make the iPod seem frozen. If that switch isn't on, you will still want to slide it to the on and off positions several times to make sure it isn't holding up the iPod.

Next thing to try is a quick little reset. This is done by pressing and holding Menu and pressing and holding Select (in the middle of the scroll wheel) at the same time. Hold down for at least 10 seconds. If this doesn't work the first time, repeat it a few times.

I think this will probably solve your problem. If not, let us know and we'll help you troubleshoot a little more.
