One of the "dangers" of not locking the Taskbar is that it can easily and accidentally get moved to one of the other sides of the desktop.... Put your cursor inside the taskbar in a blank area, hold down the left mouse button (or on laptop hold down the left touchpad button) and quickly drag the Taskbar back down to the bottom of the screen so the Start button and Taskbar are back where you're used to having them.... To prevent movement in future, do a right mouse click inside the Taskbar and be sure there is a tick mark next to "Lock the taskbar" entry.... Wink

Big Toe,

Help!  I think I have created a Start Monster.  My laptop screen does not have a space were the task bar was located.

So there for I am unable to drag it to the original lower left side.  It does not move.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The start button is still at the upper right.

Thanks
bb

Bette.... Actually would be looking for that bare spot on the Taskbar where it is currently located, apparently along the right side of your screen somewhere to the right of the Start button, not down on the bottom of the screen where the task bar used to be (at least that is what I think you were meaning as to where you were looking for the open space, but I can have a dense moment now and then - LOL.. Grin) .... since the start button is at the top right of the screen I am envisioning the Taskbar now running down to the bottom right corner of your screen as though it tilted upright after laying down along the bottom of the screen. Along that right edge you can do a right click using a mouse or your touchpad and make sure that the Taskbar is Unlocked so it can be moved back to the bottom of the screen... Once down on the bottom, do the right click step again and put a tick-mark/check-mark there to be sure the Taskbar is again locked in place.....

You can also put your cursor on a corner of the Taskbar and get those double arrows and hold down on the left mouse button and drag the bar to the bottom of the screen.... Most of the time it takes many tries before we get successful at moving it..... Duhhh, so easy for us to move it to the wrong place and why can't it be that easy to move back to the right place.... Angry

If I'm misreading your post, let me know and maybe my thinking cap will be back on.....  Wink Cheesy

BB .... I don't use Vista, but because this is such a common problem in earlier operating systems apparently Microsoft changed the Properties of the Taskbar a little bit in Vista to make solving this easier.... If you haven't been successful yet, right click a blank area of the Taskbar and choose Properties. In the Properties window use the drop down next to "taskbar location" on the screen and choose bottom. Pretty simple to do, once I read the answer.... LOL

Found this solution on another forum, so this let me learn something new as well.... Cheesy
