Finally got around to Sandy's Pilot article, "Keep your Hard Drive Cleaned Up".  She mentioned that you should open My Computer.  With Vista, we do not have that option, My Computer.  How do I proceed with the disk cleanup?   Doris Boon

For all versions of Vista, here are the steps for Disk Cleanup:

1.    Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking Disk Cleanup.
2.    In the Disk Cleanup Options dialog box, choose whether you want to clean up your own files only or all of the files on the computer. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3.    If the Disk Cleanup: Drive Selection dialog box appears, select the hard disk drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
4.    Click the Disk Cleanup tab, and then select the check boxes for the files you want to delete.
5.    When you finish selecting the files you want to delete, click OK, and then click Delete files to confirm the operation. Disk Cleanup proceeds to remove all unnecessary files from your computer.

Note:  Here's another way to open Disk Cleanup: Click the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the Search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

Hope these couple of other ways of getting to Disk Cleanup in Vista systems helps you get clean...... There is also a free program called " CCleaner " which works with all versions of Windows and does a superb job of helping to keep your system clean. Get it free at this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/. You can use it to control your start-up programs, to delete unwanted programs on your system and to handle Cookies on your system by allowing you to save those log-in cookies that you want to save and remove the temporary cookies that all sites create on your system.... Quite a versatile program, and at a great price.... Grin

Ya, Mine is Vista Home Basic on Acer Extensa and I regularly use Ccleaner.  Never used Windows Disk Clean program as it needs lots of work to get it to work.  CCleaner is free and only few clicks get the job done.  And done well too.
