But now there is help. It's a free program called Fences from Stardock, an old and reputable computer company.
This program lets you organize all the items on your desktop in groups. The groups have translucent backgrounds so you can still see your desktop. You can label each group. You can move and resize each group to your liking. You can even change the colors and saturation of the background for the groups. This program is small and easy to use. You simply drag and drop icons from the desktop to any group or from group to group. The best part is that each of the groups and the icons stays right where you put them. It is an effective solution to keeping your desktop organized.
You just double-click any blank area of the desktop to clear the entire desktop. Double-click again to make everything reappear.
There is a paid version, with added functionality, but the free version is all you need to get -- and keep-- your desktop organized.
This one is a real winner!! Check it out at the Stardock website.
