Want to know how much memory your computer has? What programs are installed? The version numbers of your software? Which Windows updates have been installed? What video board you have?
Just turn to the Belarc Advisor. This is a utility that analyzes
your computer and gives you a complete list of both the hardware setup and the
installed software. It is free for personal use. The information it gathers is extremely valuable. It can be also very useful for tech support calls.
The
software profile includes titles and version numbers. Even the software keys
are given for licenses software like Microsoft Windows and Office. This can be
invaluable information when you need to reformat your computer or reinstall
software.
The
hardware profile is equally impressive. It includes everything from processor
type, speed, and cache to the serial number of the main circuit board. Even
more useful, it tells you exactly how much memory is installed, in what
configuration, and how many slots are available.
Much other
useful information like the names of users, network name, type of video board,
list of installed printers and other devices is also given.
The
profile is presented to you as a web page which you can print or save as a web
page. The report is even dated so you know exactly when it was taken. I advise
you to print it out and file it in a memorable location. It is sure to come in
handy. If you add a lot of software or hardware, be sure to update the report
on a regular basis.
Note: To save the Belarc profile on your computer, when the report is on the screen you simply click on File, then Save As. Once you specify a name and
location and click on Save, the
report will be available by clicking on that file.
