Rheumatoid Arthritis Guide Print E-mail
health/ralogo.jpgRheumatoid arthritis, or R-A, is a painful and serious form of arthritis affecting more than 2 million people. If you have R-A, better communication with your rheumatologist can help you both set goals and monitor improvement.

A survey conducted on behalf of the Arthritis Foundation found nearly 70 percent of people currently being treated for R-A deal with stiffness, fatigue or pain on a daily basis. Most of them rely on their rheumatologist for information about dealing with R-A.

Dr. John H. Klippel is CEO of the Arthritis Foundation and a rheumatologist, “ It is important that the rheumatologist has a clear understanding of exactly how RA affects a person's day to day life. Better communication can help you set goals to manage pain, stiffness, and fatigue together.”

To help make the most of each visit, the Arthritis Foundation - with support from Bristol-Myers Squibb - has created a free Let's Talk R-A Communication Guide.

Dr. Klippel says, “This is a great tool for R-A patients, because it can help them better prepare to describe their signs and symptoms.”
