New Breast Cancer Trial Print

health/breastcancerribbon.jpgBreast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Every 30 seconds a woman somewhere in the world is diagnosed with it. But a new research study may determine whether a special type of medication can prevent breast cancer.

The National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group is looking for women to take part in a research study to determine if a new drug might hold the key to preventing breast cancer.

Professor of Medicine at Harvard University, Dr. Paul Goss says “ The Excel Study is a breast cancer prevention trial. It's aimed at women who are post-menopausal, who are over the age of 35. And it's using a new drug being tested as a prevention of breast cancer for women who are at risk.
Most women over 60 are eligible just by virtue of age and women who've had an abnormality of their mammogram or a biopsy or have a strong family history. We ask women that are interested and at risk to call in and see whether they are eligible and want to participate in helping find a cure or a prevention for breast cancer.

To find out whether you are eligible call 1-800-4-cancer, that's 1-800-422-62-37 or visit www.excelstudy.com.
