Mickey Mouse Computer Print E-mail
computer/disney_computer.jpgComputer manufacturers and retailers know that the fall back-to-school time and the pre-Christmas selling season are the strongest markets for their products. It’s no surprise then, that they choose this time of year to introduce new PC designs and new packages.

The most interesting new design this year may be the computer with ears – Mickey Mouse ears. Called the Disney Dream Desk PC, this computer has everything to fill any child’s yearnings. The Dream PC comes with a Celeron Processor, 256 MB memory, 40 GB hard drive, DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive, ATI graphics card, and Windows XP Home Edition.

The bright blue computer with yellow Disney logo and trim comes with a matching keyboard, mouse, and optical drawing pen. The flat-panel LCD monitor has two semicircular speakers on top which are easily identifiable as Mickey ears. The computer comes filled with Disney creativity software. The computer with software retails for $599. Unfortunately, the must-have Mickey-ear monitor is an additional $299. Add the $69 Disney-branded Lexmark printer and you’ve spent $1,000.

Although pricey, the Disney Computer is a full-fledged computer with extensive software. It includes Disney’s Extrememly Goofy Skateboarding, Disney’s Toontown Online, and Disney’s Adventures in Typing. This software even allows the kids to create videos of themselves with Disney characters. Non-Disney titles includes Microsoft Works 7.0, Nero Express 6, and PowerDVD Gold for serious word processing, databases, burning CDs, and creating DVDs. The Dream PC has Internet and e-mail filtering software to protect kids from the bawdy side of the online world.

The Mickey computer is currently available at the Disneystore.com and will also be sold through CompUSA and other retail outlets. It’s a great gift idea for rich grandparents.
