travel/mercuryconcept.jpgLincoln-Mercury is revamping an old classic while also introducing drivers to a glimpse of the future at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. With the all-new 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln shows a new generation of consumers the qualities that have made it a classic since it was first introduced in 1936. The mid-size, five-passenger sedan is designed with an understated elegance, featuring the cleanest Duratec 30 V-6 engine ever that generates 210 horsepower and 200 foot-pounds of torque. The Zephyr also comes optional with the industry's first THX II-Certified ® audio system that provides cinema-like style.

Lincoln-Mercury will also unveil the Lincoln Mark LT, which offers equal amounts of luxury and capability. The truck has a crew cab design with four full-size doors and two rows of seating. The Mark LT is powered by a standard 5.4-liter, three-valve Triton V-8 engine that produces 300 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 365 foot-pounds of torque at 3,750 rpm. Eighteen-inch chrome-plated wheels that display the Lincoln star at the center help add an uptown sophistication to the vehicle.

On the horizon for Mercury sits is the Meta One Concept, an advanced research vehicle displaying the evolution of automotive design, research and engineering. The concept vehicle features emerging safety features such as a lane departure warning system, personal electronics including wireless technology ("Wi-Fi") and the world's first PZEV-capable diesel hybrid. Meta One's interior can provide a "Zen-like" personal experience for its occupants with interior themes that can be customized to individual preferences. Meta One is a test-bed for advanced technologies, allowing designers to highlight future safety and powertrain technologies that exist only in theory today.
