|
The latest trend in travel not only eliminates the need to wait on long lines, it's also giving consumers a more relaxed travel experience. Recently, airports have been employing new technology that allows passengers to check themselves in and receive their tickets.
Taking note of the system's success, the hotel industry is catching on. At select hotels like Sheraton, guests can now check-in at kiosks -- and cut check-in time to less than 60 seconds. With the use of a credit card, travelers now have the option of checking in and out of their rooms entirely on their own. Located in the lobby as you enter, the kiosks include the following features:
With the kiosks, guests can bypass the line at the front desk for either check-in or check-out. However, the front desk staff is still there for guests with more detailed questions or needs. In the future hotel kiosks may also include the capability of printing airplane bording passes. By 2007, it's expected that transactions at these kiosks will punch in nearly $1 trillion of business nationwide.
