Hotel Kiosks Take Off Print
travel/hotelkiosks.jpgThe latest trend in travel not only eliminates the need to wait on long lines, it's also giving consumers a more relaxed travel experience. Recently, airports have been employing new technology that allows passengers to check themselves in and receive their tickets.

Taking note of the system's success, the hotel industry is catching on. At select hotels like Sheraton, guests can now check-in at kiosks -- and cut check-in time to less than 60 seconds. With the use of a credit card, travelers now have the option of checking in and out of their rooms entirely on their own.

Located in the lobby as you enter, the kiosks include the following features:

  • Check In
  • Check Out/Change Method of Payment
  • Room Change/Room Selection
  • Room Upgrades
  • Print Additional Room Keys
  • Display Guest Messages
  • View, Print and Email Guest Folios

With the kiosks, guests can bypass the line at the front desk for either check-in or check-out. However, the front desk staff is still there for guests with more detailed questions or needs.

In the future hotel kiosks may also include the capability of printing airplane bording passes. By 2007, it's expected that transactions at these kiosks will punch in nearly $1 trillion of business nationwide.
