Here's
good news you can take to heart! Due to its high unsaturated fat content,
canola oil may help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
The
Food and Drug Administration has authorized a qualified health claim for canola
oil and its potential to reduce the risk of heart disease. Studies show that
canola oil reduces this risk by lowering total and LDL or "bad"
cholesterol when substituted for sources of saturated fat in the diet without
increasing total calories. About19 grams of canola oil, or about 1½
tablespoons, daily is enough to help protect the heart.
