 The laptop battery recall continues to grow. You will want to take this seriously since these batteries can burst into flames. Here are links to each manufacturer and their recall details.

Several of these companies do not yet have the recalls completely organized. As I write this in late October, 2006, Sharp , Hitachi, and Sony have only recalled laptops sold in Japan, but Sony says they expect the recall to be expanded to the US in the near future. Watch out for the possibility that Sharp and Hitacki may do the same. You may have to revisit their sites later for details. While the Sony link does have a form you can fill out, they have not yet finalized recall plans for US customers.
