This year alone, a staggering 700,000
Americans will suffer a stroke. According to the CDC, one in four of
these people will die by year's end. The numbers are staggering, but
now an exciting new technology could help improve the outlook for many
stroke patients.
The DynaCT imaging application is a new means
by which doctors are able to obtain highly detailed anatomical images.
Adding it to an angiogram gives healthcare professionals a much clearer
picture of exactly where a malformation is. Based on this information,
doctors are able to suggest the best possible treatments.
In the
past, the patient had to get to a CT scan ... then go onto the
treatment lab and then back to the CT scan - which is a time consuming
process. Now, using the new DynaCT, this procedure can happen where the
treatment occurs - on angiographic table.
This new method takes
much less time than the older method - and when it comes to treating
strokes, time is critical. The sooner the diagnosis, the sooner the
treatment begins ... the greater the chance the patient has of making a
full recovery.
