Cholesterol-Reducing Milk E-mail

foods/milk.jpg A new, cholesterol reducing, fat free milk could help the more than 100 million people in the U.S. who have high or borderline-high cholesterol. It is the only milk product available nationally with this heart healthy benefit.

The milk, called Active LifestyleTM Fat Free Milk, contains plant sterols, recognized for its cholesterol reducing properties. Plant sterols are an all natural ingredient sourced from plants and found naturally in foods such as vegetables, seeds and nuts. Clinical studies have demonstrated that plant sterols can reduce cholesterol levels up to 15 percent.

Two eight-ounce servings of Active LifestyleTM Fat Free Milk with meals provide the minimum daily amount recognized by the Food and Drug Administration as providing a heart-healthy benefit, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol.

The non-fat milk product will be available at all Kroger family stores. There are nearly 2,500 Kroger family stores nationwide.
