Divided into four areas, the Canon Camera Museum gives a detailed overview of the Canon world of cameras. In Camera Hall, you will find facts about film cameras, digital cameras, digital camcorders, still video cameras and lenses. Design Hall gives design information on Canon products through the years. It also gives insights into how designers work to create the camera designs. Technology Hall explains some of the technologies incorporated into Canon cameras and takes you on a tour through a virtual lens plant. History Hall tells the history of the Canon camera story.
The virtual museum even has it own pond and water fountain out front. The analogy to a real museum is cute and the information is worth the visit. My only gripe about the site is that depending on your monitor resolution and the number of toolbars that you have on your screen, you may have to scroll up and down on individual pages to get the whole story.
You may find some of the information here boring, but as you dig into the site, you are sure to unearth some amazing facts. The photos of Canon camera from the thirty’s and forty’s were fascinating and in the camera museum you can even use the photographs of Canon cameras as your desktop wallpaper.
