digglogo.jpgWhen you watch the evening news, the stories are chosen by editorial staff. If you get tired of the news that they choose, head over to Digg, a website where your opinion is important. Digg allows users to choose the news, blogs, videos, and stories that they like. While Digg started out as a website mainly about technology, it now covers everything from world news to gaming and sports.

To start using Digg, just surf over to the main Digg website. Click on Join Digg on the top blue menu bar. Then fill in your information which includes name, username, email address, location, and password. When you revisit the site you can simply click on Login and enter your username and password. The Digg website has some ads, but it is spyware-free. On the Digg homepage you will find a tour that you can take to learn about how to use the website.

In essence, when you find a story you like on the Web you can submit it to Digg. Once your story (or any other story) is in Digg, any Digg user can vote for the story by clicking on the words digg it next to the story. The stories with the most Diggs appear on the home page. You can also add your own comments to a story and read the comments of others.

Digg is a good website to peruse. You can check out the top stories and the most recent ones in various categories like technology, science, gaming, lifestyle, entertainment, and sports. You can also look at the popular stories, videos, and even podcasts. You can look at anything on the site before you join. As long as you are logged in, you can vote for any story you like and watch that story to see how many diggs it receives.

The Internet is about sharing information and it is also about sharing opinions. So visit Digg to see what it's all about, then submit stories that you find on the Internet. This is one time it is okay to be a critic. Your opinion is important - especially on Digg.

Remember to add the Compu-Kiss stories that you like to Digg. You can do this directly or by clicking on the Share This icon at the end of each Compu-KISS article.
