Dell’s recall of 4.2 million was only the beginning. Dell has now included an additional 100,000 machines to its list. So if you have checked your Dell computer for the recall, you now have to check it again!!
Apple has recalled 1.8 million batteries used in some Apple notebooks. Lenova is recalling the battery packs used on more than 500,000 ThinkPads. The recall was precipitated by a ThinkPad notebook that caught fire at the Los Angeles International Airport.
Toshiba says there are no safety concerns with their batteries, but decided on the recall anyway. They are recalling 830,000 batteries.
Fujitsu is recalling an undisclosed number of batteries in its laptops including Dynabook, Qosmio, Satellite Portege and Tecra models
The total recall of Sony batteries that were used in various manufacturers’ portable computers at this point is more than 7.3 million battery packs worldwide.
Batteries will be replaced at no cost to the owner with Sony picking up most of the cost.
